Russell Wilson will reportedly meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers before the start of free agency next week as the quarterback looks to bounce back from his disastrous two seasons with the Denver Broncos.
The former Super Bowl-winning QB was cut by the Broncos on Monday as the franchise called time on what will go down as one of the worst trades in recent NFL history.
After 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson joined the Broncos in 2022 in a deal that saw multiple draft picks and players go to Seattle, while Wilson was handed a huge contract extension.
Wilson’s 2022 season was the worst of his career and although he would improve in 2023, he was benched late in the campaign and would end up winning just 11 of his 30 starts in Denver.
Wilson will now look to rebuild his career following his release and that will start with a visit to the Steelers, as per The Athletic. They report that the 35-year-old will meet with the AFC North side before free agency officially opens on Wednesday.
The Steelers are coming off a season in which their quarterback play was somewhat lacking, with starter Kenny Pickett failing to kick on after his rookie season and suffering an ankle injury late in the campaign, while backup Mason Rudolph is set for free agency.
