Nick Siranni’s men swept aside the Washington Commanders 55-23 in what was their best performance of the season to set up a Super Bowl LVII rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, who again saw off the Buffalo Bills.
Here’s what DAZN News learned from the Eagles’ rout.
Saquon Barkley sets the tone early
Another week, another huge day for Saquon Barkley. The Eagles running back took just one play from scrimmage to rock the Commanders defense, when he scampered to the latest instalment of his 2024 season highlight reel, as he rushed for a 60-yard touchdown on Philadelphia’s first possession.
The run came after a promising first drive for the visitors, who put three points on the board after making two successful fourth-down conversions, but once the Eagles had the lead, they did not look back.
Barkley only needed 15 carries to run for 118 yards and three touchdowns, with his mere presence giving the Washington defence the spooks, as the attention they gave the running back allowed Philadelphia’s other playmakers to excel in a brilliantly balanced performance.
Jayden Daniels was not overawed against stellar Eagles defense

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels was looking to cap his sensational season with the first-ever appearance by a rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl and despite the lob-sided final outcome, the occasion was not too big for him.
A string of third and fourth-down conversations on the opening drive placed an early seed of doubt in the heads of the home fans. Vic Fangio’s defence gameplan was masterful however, meaning Daniels had to deal with constant pressure up front. More often than not he was able to extend plays, but he would eventually be ground down, resulting in stalled drives and turnovers.
Make no mistake, Daniels can hold his head high despite the defeat and it’s now over to the Washington staff to build around their rookie phenom and help him reach the next level.

Commanders are the architects of their own downfall
Washington went into Sunday’s encounter having not given up any turnovers during their playoff run so far, but they were to cough the ball up four times at Lincoln Financial Field and with the Eagles offense playing like this, it was game over.
The Eagles were ruthless in their ability to capitalise on these turnovers, scoring 28 points in the process, while big pass interference and third-down penalties came at crucial parts of the game and killed any Washington momentum.
There’s more to the Eagles than just Barkley
A game that saw a remarkable seven rushing touchdowns for the Eagles would indicate that is was all about the ground game, but Jalen Hurts was also able to have his best passing performance of the playoffs so far.
After throwing for a combined 259 yards in the Eagles’ first two playoff games, Hurts completed 20 of 28 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown, with A. J. Brown coming to life with six receptions for 98 yards.
Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will have his work cut in two weeks’ time.
