The 49ers are preparing to face the Chiefs in Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has reiterated his commitment to the team’s cause on a week when he is up for two individual awards.

The 49ers are in Las Vegas preparing to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII as the franchise looks to end a 29-year wait to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

McCaffrey has been central to the team’s high-flying offense, romping to the NFL rushing title, earning himself more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage and scoring 21 touchdowns.

That has seen the running back nominated for the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards, but ahead of Thursday night’s NFL Honors ceremony where the individual gongs will be handed out, McCaffrey has been reflecting on individual prizes versus the team’s ultimate goal.

"One thing this week has taught me is, the individual awards and all the individual accolades that you get are great, but there's nothing bigger than the Super Bowl, and that's very true," McCaffrey said, as per the NFL Network. "I think I realized that when they announced the All-Pro and the Pro Bowl and all those things.

"I'm extremely grateful for those, and I don't take them lightly, and I don't take them for granted, but to have an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl is the biggest thing on the planet, and I think it's what this whole game is about. So I think that's what's really special."

Whatever the outcome of Thursday’s NFL Honors, expect McCaffrey to be front and centre when it comes to the 49ers gameplan against the Chiefs on Sunday evening.
