The San Francisco 49ers remain on the road as their playoff journey continues Saturday against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Having dispatched the Dallas Cowboys last week in the wild-card round, the 49ers now head north to take on the top team in the NFC. They'll need all hands on deck against a Packers team playing elite football all season long (the throwaway loss in Week 18 notwithstanding), and to that end the Niners received good news at practice early in the week.
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers are "pretty optimistic" that defensive end Nick Bosa will be ready to play on Saturday after being placed in concussion protocol following a collision with a teammate last week. Similarly, linebacker Fred Warner may return after suffering a low-grade ankle sprain against the Cowboys.
Perhaps most importantly, it appears as though the shoulder sprain that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo played through in the win against Dallas shouldn't keep him out of Saturday's game, although he'll continue to be put through his paces in the days leading up to the game.
"He ended up checking out alright," Shanahan said of Garoppolo on Monday. "Just a slight shoulder sprain. He should be good for Wednesday's practice."
