Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed reportedly has seven teams looking to seal a trade for the Super Bowl winner this offseason.
With both Sneed and fellow defensive standout Chris Jones set for free agency this offseason and the team in need to come in under the salary cap, the Chiefs franchise-tagged the cornerback and gave him permission to seek a trade.
Now, according to USA Today, seven teams have contacted the Chiefs to register their interest in a trade. The report lists the Vikings, Colts, Titans, Patriots, Lions, Falcons and Jaguars as the teams looking at the cornerback.
Sneed’s franchise tag designation means that for a trade to work, the player would have to agree terms for a contract extension with a new team before the mid-July deadline when the franchise tag would kick in. His salary under the tag would be just shy of $20million.
Sneed established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL last season, allowing no touchdowns and a league-low four yards per target while in zone coverage, as per Next Gen Stats.
He was particularly impressive during the Chiefs playoff run, winning his second Super Bowl ring when the team saw off the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas last month.
