There's another country added to the list of hosts for the NFL.

Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the NFL would play its first-ever game in Brazil next season.

The game will take place on Friday, September 6 for the season-opening weekend.

The season is kicked off the day before with either the Chiefs or 49ers - this year’s potential champions - as host to inaugurate the upcoming campaign.

Chiefs vs. 49ers can be watched live on DAZN (excluding China and US) on February 11.

“We’re going to do it on our Kickoff Weekend, which is an unusual approach,” Goodell said. “We’re actually going to do it on Friday night of our Kickoff Weekend.”

The Philadelphia Eagles will be designated the home team for the game, with the match to be played at Brazilian football team SC Corinthians’ stadium, the Corinthians Arena.

Corinthians play in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and not only is the match the first ever NFL game in Brazil, but also in the continent of South America. It is also the first Friday night game in Week One since 1970.

The NFL has long held games abroad to attract international fans and allow supporters from outside the US to get to games.

London will again play host to NFL games, with three to take place in next season, and another will be held in Munich as the sport continues to travel to Germany.
