It has been 54 long seasons since the New York Jets reached a Super Bowl, but perhaps even more disappointing for Jets fans has been the 12 consecutive campaigns without reaching the postseason.

The Jets' current playoff drought is the longest in the franchises history, their last match in the postseason was their AFC Championship defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers way back in 2010.

The Jets are not the only franchise who have been waiting for a return to the play-offs, the Denver Broncos have not returned since winning Super Bowl 50 while the Detroit Lions have missed out for six straight seasons.

But neither of those runs come close to the 12 seasons that Jets fans have had to endure, but all that disappointment could be coming to an end in 2023.

Can Rodgers end Jets' drought?

The Jets have had a carousel of quarterbacks in recent years, none of which have been able to take them to the top of the AFC East.

They have not been helped by their division, with the AFC East long being the home to Tom Brady's New England Patriots and more recently Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills.

But there is renewed hope in New York, and justifiably so.

In comes Super Bowl-winning and four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who the Jets traded the Green Bay Packers for.

In wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the Jets have the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after his stellar campaign.

And the Jets will get running back Breece Hall back from injury to start the 2023 season, not to mention the offseason signings of Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Mercole Hardman Jr.

Things look equally promising on the defensive side of the ball, as the Jets also have 2022 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in Sauce Gardner.

Gardner proved himself to be one of, if not the, best cornerbacks in the whole league. And should a new contract get sorted for Quinnen Williams, the Jets stand to be even better defensively than they were in 2022.
