Three candidates to replace Pete Carroll as Seattle Seahawks head coach

Three candidates to replace Pete Carroll as Seattle Seahawks head coachDAZN

The Seattle Seahawks and Pete Carroll have "amicably agreed" to have the legendary head coach vacate the position after 14 seasons and move into an advisory role, the team announced Wednesday.

Carroll become the latest in a growing list of NFL head coaches who have exited their roles following the end of the 2023 regular season, and the search to replace him has certainly already begun for the Seattle front office.

With that in mind, here are three names the Seahawks could consider as their new head coach.

Dan Quinn

The current Dallas Cowboys defensive co-ordinator, Quinn has extensive history with the Seahawks as he served two stints on the coaching staff in Seattle.

Quinn won a Super Bowl as part of Carroll's staff in 2014, and he would surely welcome another stint as a head coach after serving in that role with the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons.

Jim Harbaugh

The timing couldn't be any better for a return to the NFL for Harbaugh.

A former AP NFL Coach of the Year with the San Francisco 49ers and longtime quarterback with several teams, Harbaugh has reached his peak notoriety as a college coach, having led the Michigan Wolverines to the national championship just days ago.

Bobby Slowik

Slowik's work as a first-year offensive co-ordinator for the Houston Texans hasn't gone unnoticed as he's helped that team make the playoffs for the first time this decade.

The Texans' dynamic offense, centered around rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, is a feather in the cap of a vastly experienced assistant who may just be ready to take on a head coaching role.
