Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers looks destined to move away from the City of Angels after being a healthy scratch for Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
After finishing the 2022 season with perhaps the best run of games in his career, Akers had high expectations going into the 2023 season.
However after averaging just 1.9 yards per carry in Week 1, head coach Sean McVay opted to list Akers as inactive for their Week 2 game.
After the loss McVay said the Rams will "see what happens over the next couple days" in terms of Akers' future with the team.
While Akers looks set to leave the Rams, there are plenty of teams who would benefit from trading for the 24-year-old running back. DAZN looks at three potential landing spots.
Cleveland Browns
Akers' desire for a move coincides with a horrific season-ending injury to Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, which leaves the AFC North side with just two healthy backs on the roster.
After Kareem Hunt's move away from the franchise last season, the back-ups to Chubb are down to Jerome Ford - who impressed when called upon in Week 2 - and Pierre Strong.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game "you cannot replace Nick Chubb", but Akers could help add strength in depth at the position and help split reps with Ford.
Baltimore Ravens
Similarly to the Browns, the Baltimore Ravens saw their first choice running back ruled out for the rest of the season when J.K. Dobbins hobbled off the field in Week 1.
The argument for Akers moving to the Ravens is the same as with Cleveland, as Baltimore only have Gus Edwards and Justice Hill healthy at the position on their 53-man roster - though they do have Melvin Gordon on their practice squad.
Akers has had tough luck with injuries in his short career to date, and the Ravens running back room seems to have a similar curse, so if Akers is traded to the AFC North leaders let's hope he can remain healthy.
Las Vegas Raiders
Unlike the Browns and Ravens, the Las Vegas Raiders have a fit and healthy lead running back in Josh Jacobs, who last season led the league in rushing yards.
However, Jacobs' future with the franchise is still up in the air - having signed just a one-year deal for the 2023 season - and they may need a new lead rusher come next season.
The Raiders do have Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden on their roster, but none are proven three-down running backs at an NFL level.
