The Detroit Lions are putting together one of the best seasons in the franchise's recent history.
After 13 weeks of the 2023 season, Detroit sit atop of the NFC North division with a 9-3 record, three wins more than the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers.
According to The New York Times, the Lions have a greater than 99% chance of reaching the playoffs this season - but they are not there just yet.
The main reason the Lions are yet to mathematically confirm their place in the postseason is due to the fact they still have to play the Minnesota Vikings twice (24 December and 7 January).
Ignoring other results, the Lions are two wins away from sealing their place in the playoffs for the first time since 2016, and for just the fourth time since the year 2000.
If the Packers and Vikings suffer more losses, the Lions may already have enough wins to make this season's playoffs.
Who do the Lions still have to play?
- Week 14 at Bears
- Week 15 vs. Broncos
- Week 16 at Vikings
- Week 17 at Cowboys
- Week 18 vs. Vikings
