The 2023 NFL season is just around the corner as many teams prepare to start life with a new quarterback.
For some teams the new starting quarterback did not have to fight for the job - such as Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets - but for others preseaon has been a fierce competition.
The Houston Texans, who round off preseason action against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night, have still not confirmed who out of Davis Mills or CJ Stroud will start come week one.
But for most teams the decision has been made, as DAZN looks at the quarterback winners from preseason you can expect to see in week one of the regular season.
Anthony Richardson - Indianapolis Colts
By drafting Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected their new franchise quarterback.
Richardson is a phenominal athlete who lit up the combine earlier this year and as a result rose massively in people's estimations.
However the jury was - and still is - out on whether Richardson has the throwing accuracy to truly succeed in the NFL.
The rookie quarterback has had to prove himself to earn the starting job, and he has done enough in preseason to beat out veteran Gardner Minshew.
Richardson's first taste of real NFL action comes against Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, 10 September.
Baker Mayfield - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Whoever won the starting job in Tampa Bay was always going to have big shoes to fill after the retirement of Tom Brady.
Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask were the two contenders for the job, but it is the former number one overall pick who has come out on top.
The Buccaneers will now be the third different franchise in consecutive seasons to have Mayfield as their starting quarterback in week one.
Now 28, Mayfield will be hoping to reignite his career after spells with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
And Mayfield will need a good start to the season or third-year quarterback Trask could get his chance sooner rather than later.
Sam Howell - Washington Commanders
Being the starting quarterback for the Commanders in no guarantee of longievity in the role.
Since 2017, Washington have had 12 different quarterbacks start games for the franchise - including Howell for one game last season.
The 2022 fifth-round pick had to fight for the job with veteran Jacoby Brissett but has been one of the big winners of preseason.
Howell threw three touchdowns and no interceptions across the first two weeks of preseason action, totalling 265 yards off 28 completions from 37 attempts.
With a new excitement surrounding the franchise going into 2023, could Howell prove to be the quarterback who finally ends Washington's search for a long-term starter?
