1. Military veteran turned fighter

Keith Richardson is not just a fighter, he is a former Marine who has seen combat. He credits his military background and his parents for shaping his discipline, resilience, and mental toughness - traits he brings to every bout.

While he calls himself his father’s son, he credits his mother with helping him develop his character and making him a better person. His nickname, "The Rockstar," reflects his confident and fearless persona, both inside and outside the ring.

2. MMA roots

Before making a name for himself in bare-knuckle fighting, Richardson had a solid MMA career. Competing in organizations like Bellator and regional promotions, he honed his striking and grappling skills.

His transition to BKFC brought a new challenge, but his MMA experience gave him an edge in adaptability and fight IQ. In MMA he was known as a submission expert but having transitioned to the Square Circle, he told the BKFC website that he no longer looks to brawl, saying he prefers to beat up his opponents.

3. An explosive fighting style

Richardson is known for his relentless aggression and striking precision. Fans can always expect fireworks when he fights as he pushes the pace and looks to finish his opponents quickly.

His bare-knuckle bouts often showcase his ability to control the fight and capitalise on his opponent's mistakes. He is said to have a tough chin to crack.

4. A record of grit and heart

Although every fight comes with its ups and downs, Richardson’s career is a testament to perseverance.

He has faced tough opponents and overcome injuries, proving he has the heart of a warrior. His ability to bounce back from setbacks has endeared him to fans and earned the respect of his peers.

Arriving on the scene at BKFC 35, he won his debut fight against Justin Scoggins. Subsequent wins over Cody Jenkins (BKFC 42) and Derek Perez (BKFC 48) saw him get his shot at the title, where he beat Reggie Barnett Jr. for the BKFC Bantamweight Championship in BKFC 52.

5. Balancing life as a coach and fighter

Outside the ring, Richardson is a dedicated coach, helping train aspiring fighters at his Modern Warrior Academy. His experience as a competitor and his military background makes him a mentor who demands excellence from his trainees.

Balancing coaching and his own fighting career demonstrate his passion for the sport and commitment to fostering the next generation of talent.
