Katie Taylor’s upcoming clash with Amanda Serrano is not only the focus of the boxing world, but also a big talking point in the pro wrestling environment.
The female superstars are set to do battle on April 30 at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden exclusively live on DAZN, and it’s a contest that has got leading wrestlers salivating for it.
Thunder Rosa, the current AEW Women’s champion, has huge admiration for both fighters ahead of their meeting later this month. A former MMA star who has competed in both the wrestling ring and octagon, Rosa is fully aware of the pressures currently being faced by females in combat sport.
With Rosa doing all she can to be a positive influence in her role as a wrestler, she holds a profound respect for what Taylor and Serrano are doing for their own realm.
“Those ladies, man,” said Rosa when speaking exclusively with DAZN.
“I’ve been following Amanda Serrano for a while now. She is a huge advocate for women’s boxing. Women are so underpaid in boxing, and they work so hard. Their investment is finally paying off.
"They are the best in boxing right now and it’s important that people can see female boxing as something that draws.
“I’ve seen Amanda now that she’s with Jake Paul, she’s making really good money, she’s getting her name out there. People are taking her serious. They're so talented. They’re so good. And now it’s finally happening for them and I’m extremely happy. It’s going to be war. This is going to be a war.”
On who wins the fight, Rosa offered her verdict.
“I like Amanda and she is a dog. She doesn’t go down for nobody. She’s been pretty successful in everything she’s done, every time she steps in the ring.
"It’s a toss-up but I’m going to go for Amanda.”
