The British heavyweight could be back in action against another US heavyweight.

Emerging British heavyweight fighter Daniel Dubois continued his rehabilitation after defeat to Joe Joyce by defeating Joe Cusumano in a single round.

The 23-year-old Briton suffered a broken eye socket against Olympian Joyce towards the end of 2020 and he took half a year out to recover, before beating Bogdan Dinu in June. He needed two rounds for that victory, but took half that for the win over his American rival on Sunday.

Three knockdowns in a single round saw to that as he was introduced to the US on the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley undercard, and he now has his sights set on a world title fight.

“You don’t get paid for overtime,” said Dubois after his win.

“I had a great performance and had the best training camp ever. I want to fight for a world title. I want to fight the best. It’s going to come soon. Whoever’s next. I want to fight for a world title.”

One potential opponent eyed by Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, is the WBA ‘regular’ champion, Trevor Bryan.
