Amanda Serrano is willing to fight two-minute rounds if it allows her to land a rematch with Katie Taylor.
The pair fought in April 2022 with Taylor emerging the winner at Madison Square Garden in what is regarded as one of the great fights of modern boxing.
There has been talk of a rematch ever since but Taylor pursued revenge over Chantelle Cameron after losing the first fight, and with both fighters well into their thirties, time is precious for any chance to run it back.
Discussing her place in the pantheon of boxing, she told Sky Sports: "Seven-division world champion. The undisputed champion. Now it's time to open up the door for the women coming into the sport and helping the future of women's boxing. I believe if you believe in something really a lot you have to take that stance.”
On the decision to fight three rounds, she added: "I believe that women should have a choice in fighting three, two [-minute rounds], or 12, 10 [rounds in a contest], whatever they feel like.
"I believe in it and I hope other women believe that we do have a choice. And if they believe in it they will do the same thing."
However, if it was necessary to make a rematch with Taylor, she was willing to compromise.
"For Katie, if she doesn't want to do the three minutes, I will accept it and do the two - because I think this time I will get the knockout!" she said.
Serrano’s next fight is on March 2 when she fights Nina Meinke, live on DAZN.com with Jake Paul featuring on the undercard.
Looking towards the fight, she said: "I love giving the fans their money's worth. I love to go out there and fight, I don't mind getting hit in the face, I don't mind getting punched. I'll take two of yours to give you three of mine. I'm always going to have exciting fights."
