Amir Khan doesn't believe Wladimir Klitschko should be making a return to the ring to take on former rival, Tyson Fury.
Speculation has increased over the last week that the Ukrainian superstar, a former world champion at heavyweight, was considering a comeback.
At the peak of his powers, Klitschko was the world’s best heavyweight for many years as he dominated numerous high class opponents including Alexnader Povetkin and David Haye.
Klitschko also achieved the biggest accolades when competing as an amateur with the ultimate prize coming in 1996 when he won Olympic gold.
In 2015, Fury travelled to Germany to face Klitschko and he caused a huge upset to dethrone the defending champion who endured his first loss in 11 years.
Two years later, Klitschko came close to unseating Anthony Joshua as world champion in Wembley Stadium, but he was eventually stopped in the penultimate round following a spirited effort.
Retired for over seven years, it’s uncertain whether Klitschko is serious about returning and Khan has had his say on the situation.
“We all know Wladimir Klitschko is not the same fighter he was before. Wladimir Klitschko is getting old and he shouldn’t take a dangerous fight like that because of his age but at the end of the day, it’s up to Wladimir,” said Khan when speaking to ActionNetwork .
“If he thinks he is in good shape to fight Tyson Fury then fair enough because the first fight was really close but since then he has been beaten by Anthony Joshua and inactive.
“I think that Tyson Fury is too young, strong, and active for him. Wladimir Klitschko is a great fighter and has done great things but age and activity plays a role.”
