Anderson Silva doesn’t believe that age will be a factor when he steps into the boxing ring with Jake Paul on Saturday night.
The UFC veteran is 22 years older than Paul, and although he carries the advantage in experience, Paul’s freshness and youth has been tipped to be a crucial factor if the fight reaches the latter stages.
Silva is expected to provide Paul with his biggest test to date thus far and although the majority of successes have taken place in a cage, he does hold a win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
The bookmakers favour Paul heading into this intriguing bout, but Silva is full of confidence as he looks to cause a minor upset.
“This is a competition and I’m training hard to make a great show for everyone,” said Paul when speaking at the fight’s final press conference.
“This fight is special to me. I try to do my best because I love fighting and I love my job and now I’m free to do everything I like to do.
“Everyone always asks, ‘Are you sure you want to face Jake Paul? He’s beating a lot of guys in the UFC.’ I say, ‘Yeah, I think I’m ready for that. He’s younger than me but I’m a superhero.'”
