Andy Ruiz has backed David Benavidez to score the biggest win of his professional career when he faces Caleb Plant this weekend.
The outstanding super-middleweights will battle it out for a shot at Canelo Alvarez, and Ruiz, although a huge admirer of both fighters, is of the opinion that Benavidez will get the job done.
Unbeaten in 26 contests, Benavidez’s rise to the business end of the 168lbs division has been one performed with minimum fuss.
Stepping up to face Plant, a former world champion, this jump represents the toughest test of Benavidez’s career, but that hasn’t prevented Ruiz from backing the man from Arizona.
"I got my money on Benavidez,” said Ruiz when speaking with PBC ahead of this Saturday’s fight in Las Vegas.
“He is just a bigger fighter, a stronger guy, ‘The Mexican Monster.’ Nothing against Caleb, he is a warrior, and we all risk our lives in the ring, but I just feel like Benavidez will be too much.”
