Anthony Joshua looks to become a three-time heavyweight champion on Aug. 20 when he meets Oleksandr Usyk. When Joshua lost his three belts to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019, he regained them in the rematch in December 2019, winning a lopsided decision.
In his last time out, Joshua lost the IBF, WBA (super), and WBO titles to Usyk by unanimous decision. However, regaining the championships isn't something new for "AJ". He's been there before, and Joshua's chomping at the bit to get those belts around his waist once again.
“I’m definitely desperate to get my hands back on [the titles],” Joshua said at the London stop of the press tour to promote the rematch. “Too much talking for me. Less talking, more action. Let me just get in there and do my job. I’m not a comedian, not someone who writes speeches.
“I’m definitely hungry, definitely desperate. At the end of the day, how I perform will speak volumes to the masses.”
What is noticeably different about the Ruiz and Usyk rematches is the change in trainers as famed charge Robert Garcia is in and long-time cornerman Rob McCracken is out. Joshua is pulling out all the stops. If he emerges victorious, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist hopes it's the last time he's the role of the challenger as looking to reclaim titles is a position you don't always want to be in.

“Someone said to me, ‘You got the chance to become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world.’ I said that it’s not really where you want to be,” Joshua said. “It’s not a route I would advise young people to travel.
“You want to keep it, stay there and keep it.”
