Anthony Joshua denies step-aside deal for Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk - 'Stop listening until it comes from me'DAZN
The former heavyweight champion said nothing had been agreed.

Anthony Joshua denied that he has agreed to take step aside money in order to facilitate a fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua lost to Usyk back in September as he lost the IBF, WBA and WBO belts to the Ukrainian and promptly exercised his rematch clause. That had led promoter Eddie Hearn to suggest that a late April/early May clash could be on the cards.

In preparation, the 32-year-old Briton had been touring gyms in California and Texas ahead of an anticipated change to his training team - a change that has yet to be confirmed.

The Telegraph reported earlier in the week that Joshua would take £15 million in order to allow Usyk out of his rematch obligation, which would set up an undisputed heavyweight fight with Fury, though Fury also has his own mandatory defence against Dillian Whyte to resolve.

TalkSPORT’s Michael Benson posted a video to his Twitter account on Monday night where he denied that any agreements had been finalised.

"You know what's mad about all these interviews I see," he began. "I see certain interviews that quote what I said and I think to myself 'I haven't done any interviews.'

"Where did this person get this information from? I'm hearing people say 'AJ accepts £15m to step aside.' I haven't signed a contract, I haven't seen a contract. So as it stands, stop listening until it comes from me.

"I'm the man in control of my destiny, I'm the man that handles my business, I'm a smart individual and I make calculated decisions every step of the way.

"Don't listen to other sources... if I tell you something then you know it's real."
