Don't expect Anthony Joshua to hang up the gloves any time soon.
Joshua was on the wrong end of a dominant performance by Daniel Dubois as the two men squared off at Wembley Stadium in front of 96,000 fans on Saturday night, with Dubois successfully defending his IBF world heavyweight title against the two-time former unified world champion.
Despite coming in as a massive underdog against the more experienced Joshua, Dubois was aggressive from the outset and didn't give the 2012 Olympic gold medallist a chance to breathe as he landed several heavy punches throughout the first four rounds before delivering a knockout blow in the fifth round.
It was the fifth loss of Joshua's career and perhaps the most one-sided defeat the 34-year-old has taken, but that didn't stop a defiant "AJ" from declaring after the fight that he has no plans to step away from boxing.
"Before I came here, I'm always saying to myself 'I'm a fighter for life,'" Joshua told DAZN's Ade Oladipo. "We rolled the dice on success and we came up short, and we roll it again and ... we keep rolling the dice."
In assessing the loss to Dubois, Joshua stated that the champion's aggression was just one factor leading to the defeat as he also admitted to making some mistakes along the way.
"I had a sharp opponent, a fast opponent, and secondly a lot of mistakes from my end," Joshua said. "But that's the game. As p—ed off as I am, it is what it is."
