Exclusive video content: Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk collide in a huge heavyweight clash on September 25, and the champ sat down with DAZN during his preparations.

At one stage, Anthony Joshua never believed his career would cross paths with Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua, who was hoping to have Tyson Fury as part of his 2021 plans will instead defend his world titles against Usyk in a fight that has the entire boxing community excited.

In 2012, both Joshua and Usyk competed in separate weight categories as they both boxed their way to gold medals. The latter was fast-tracked to world title glory at cruiserweight whilst Joshua became world champion in 2016 with a sensational stoppage over Charles Martin.

Despite their similar climbs to the summit of boxing, Joshua never envisaged a fight between the pair back then.

“We never boxed or sparred before,” said Joshua when speaking to DAZN. "He joined boxing in 2002. I came in quite late.

"I never expected to box him. A lot of people I never expected boxing. All comers are welcome.”

On Usyk’s strengths, Joshua added, “He's a good boxer. He understands positioning and hands. Size doesn’t always play into it and if I’m just depending on myself being big and strong then I’m putting myself at a disadvantage.

"I’ve applied myself properly for the fight so I’ve got more artillery in my weapon bag on fight night.”
