Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois: What is the road to the fight?DAZN
The two fighters have taken different paths to meet in the ring.

Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will meet this weekend when the pair go toe-to-toe in the ring at Wembley Stadium in London.

The former will bid to become a three-time world champion as he seeks to dethrone the latter in the first defence of his IBF heavyweight title.

Both men last lost to Oleksandr Usyk and have bounced back to winning ways since, but just how have those results brought them to cross paths?

Here's all you need to know about the stories behind Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois.

How did Anthony Joshua reach this fight?

  • Nationality: British
  • Date of birth: October 15, 1989
  • Height: 6' 6"
  • Reach: 82"
  • Total fights: 31
  • Record: 28-3 (25 KOs)

Thirty-one fights into his career, Joshua has made the journey from Olympic Games wonderkid to heavyweight champion of the world twice before, and could do so again here.

Defeat to Oleksandr Usyk by unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2021 however handed him a second career loss, and his third came in a rematch in 2022.

That could have spelled the end of Joshua's tenure at the top of the division, but he has fought his way back into contention over the past two years with four further victories.

Wins over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou have rebuilt his reputation, and positioned him once again as a challenger for Dubois and his title.

How did Daniel Dubois reach this fight?

  • Nationality: British
  • Date of birth: September 6, 1997
  • Height:  6'5"
  • Reach: 78"
  • Total fights: 23
  • Record: 21-2 (20 KOs)

Younger by almost eight years, Dubois might not possess the pedigree that his opponent does, but has earned his reputation as one of the top heavyweights in the business.

His wins over Trevor Bryan and Kevin Lerena in 2022 saw him earn and then defend the WBA (Regular) heavyweight title, scoring a third-round knockout win against the latter.

That fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium prepared him for a shot at unified champion Usyk, where he suffered just a second career loss in a ninth-round KO defeat.

However, wins against Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic restored him to mandatory challenger status, and now IBF champion after Usyk relinquished the belt for a Tyson Fury rematch.
