Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou: Former UFC fighter encouraged by performance against Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou: Former UFC fighter encouraged by performance against Tyson FuryStephen Dunkley (Round 'N' Bout Media) for Frank Warren Queensberry Promotions
He thinks there could be a surprise.

Michael Bisping believes that there is a chance that Francis Ngannou defeats Anthony Joshua.

The heavyweight pair fight for the first time in 2024 when they meet in Saudi Arabia in March, and the winner could well go on to challenge the undisputed heavyweight of the world after Tyson Fury fights Oleksandr Usyk next month.

Joshua’s last fight was a convincing stoppage against Otto Wallin on December 23 at the Day of Reckoning, while for Ngannou, he lost his boxing debut in October against Fury, but not before dropping the WBC champion.

Many believe that Ngannou was unlucky not to have been given the win against the Briton last year, and a match-up with Joshua gives him the chance to show it was not a one-off.

However, he thinks Joshua will be sharper than Fury, who looked out of sorts in the fight.

He told Betway: "Tyson fury's father said that there were people around training camp that maybe weren't the best influences on him and maybe that affected his performance, but Anthony Joshua isn't going to do that,

"Anthony Joshua is a proper athlete and he takes his career very, very seriously and he's had a great 2023, he's won three in a row. He looked great against Otto Wallin, he looked back to the old AJ, he got his stoppage inside five rounds. But you have to give Ngannou a chance. If you can sit down Tyson Fury he can probably sit down Anthony Joshua."
