It looks like Anthony Joshua's plans to become a three-time world heavyweight champion may have hit a roadblock.

Following his second round knockout win over Francis Ngannou earlier this month, Joshua had put himself in a position to challenge for a world title.

There were plans for Joshua to face the winner of the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, but it's likely that there will be a rematch as is often the case with marquee matchups.

An alternative route for Joshua to claim world heavyweight gold was to face Filip Hrgovic who is the IBF mandatory with the governing body seemingly set to strip the winner of Fury vs. Usyk on May 18.

However, according to Hrgovic's trainer Ronnie Shields, the Croatian will be facing a British fighter next, but it will not be the Olympic gold medalist.

“We have just found out that Hrgovic is going to fight on June 1st and it is supposed to be against Daniel Dubois," Shields told W.A.W Boxing

“In Saudi [Arabia].”

Hrgovic and Dubois last fought on the "Day of Reckoning" card in Riyadh with both fighters coming away with knockout wins over Mark De Mori and Jarrell Miller respectively.
