Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 - Can Bivol grab revenge just like in these legendary rematches?

Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 - Can Bivol grab revenge just like in these legendary rematches?DAZN

A big rematch is set to take place on February 22 in Riyadh when Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol collide for a second time, live on DAZN PPV

Can Bivol perform better after losing narrowly the first time and settle the series when they meet?

Here, DAZN News looks at several rematches when the original result was different the second time around.

Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks 2, 1978

Leon Spinks shocked the world in 1978 when he added the world heavyweight title to his Olympic gold medal in only his eighth professional fight.

Despite the setback, Ali was eager to put things right and he would get his opportunity in an immediate rematch.

Ali performed better and there was a significant decline in Spinks when they clashed again, meaning that Ali was able to get revenge at the first opportunity.

Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran 2, 1980

In one of the biggest rivalries of the 1980s, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran often delivered incredible action.

After Duran won their epic first meeting in 1980, the eyes of the world were on the rematch to see how Leonard would respond.

The American was outstanding as he produced a wonderful performance to register an impressive stoppage over Duran who wanted no part of his great rival.

Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield 2, 1999

The last heavyweight title before the new millennium was a major showdown between Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield, who had met months earlier in a hugely controversial fight.

Many believed Lewis was the victor, but the Brit’s hopes of becoming undisputed ruler were thwarted by the judges who scored the bout a draw.

In the second meeting, Lewis was more assured in his work and his added aggression made sure there was no drama when he was announced as the winner to finally earn that undisputed crown.

Antonio Tarver vs. Roy Jones 2, 2004

In 2003, Roy Jones won the world heavyweight title before returning to his more natural weight of 175lbs and defeating Antonio Tarver.

Jones was a worthy winner, but he showed weaknesses he had never demonstrated before and he was eager to put it right straightaway.

The following year, Jones and Tarver met again, and it was a left hand from Tarver in round two that proved Jones was human after all.

Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz 2, 2019

Andy Ruiz shocked the world in the summer of 2024 when he became the first man to defeat Anthony Joshua

Ruiz dropped the Englishman four times inside a stunned Madison Square Garden on his way to becoming unified world champion.

Going back to basics, Joshua was more cautious in the rematch and his safety-first approach allowed him to become a heavyweight ruler for a second time.
