The undisputed light heavyweight title fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol has been postponed.
The two light heavyweight champions were set to meet on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in a contest which boxing fans have been wanting for a number of years.
However, the below statement from Top Rank announced the postponement and confirmed that it is Beterbiev who has picked up an injury whilst in training camp.
"The highly anticipated undisputed light heavyweight world title showdown between WBC/IBF/WBO champion Artur Beterbiev and WBA ruler Dmitry Bivol — scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — has been postponed after Beterbiev suffered a ruptured meniscus in training.
"The plan is to reschedule Beterbiev-Bivol before the end of the year, and additional details will be provided in due course."
The Beterbiev vs. Bivol fight topped the bill of what was an exciting event with the first ever Queensberry vs. Matchroom tournament making up the undercard and Turki Alalshikh has since confirmed in a post on X that the 5 v 5 will go ahead as planned.
"After receiving today’s news about Beterbiev’s injury, we will be postponing the Beterbiev vs. Bivol fight scheduled for June 1st until later this year. Wishing my brother Artur a speedy recovery," Alalshikh wrote.
"However, the 5v5 event is still on for June 1st."
