Bob Arum has guided Shakur Stevenson to multiple world titles but is their relationship about to come to an end?
Since turning professional after the 2016 Olympics, Stevenson has been part of the thriving Top Rank stable and he is now one of the best fighters in the sport.
Stevenson’s next opponent is still unknown, but Arum has revealed that the Newark fighter will box in front of his home fans in July.
After that, Stevenson will become a free agent and Arum spoke about the situation with the current lightweight world champion.
“Shakur is fighting on July 6th in New Jersey at the Prudential Center. We’ll announce the opponent relatively shortly, and we had a great run with Shakur,” said Arum when speaking to Fight Hub TV.
“He’s an incredible fighter with incredible skills, but our contract is over with the July 6th fight. Hopefully, we’ll maintain our relationship with Shakur and continue that, but he’s a free agent after the July 6th fight. So, we’ll see how that all plays out.”
