Bob Arum will aim to make a fascinating encounter between Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko if both men emerge victorious in their October encounters.
Haney rematches George Kambosos Jr. on October 15 and Lomachenko returns to the ring two weeks later when he faces Jamaine Ortiz in New York City.
Since losing to Teofimo Lopez at the backend of 2020, Lomachenko has had to watch the landscape at 135lbs change drastically since he was the top fighter there.
After Lopez lost Kambosos in 2021, the Australian tried to unify all the titles but was soundly beaten by Haney. The three-weight world champion will have a chance to be the best again if he can come through his next test on October 29.
“Vasiliy has arrived in the United States with his entire family. He’s set up training in the Los Angeles area. He will have his first fight back on October 29,” said Arum when publicising the upcoming Haney vs. Kambosos rematch.
“I look forward to matching the winner of Haney and Kambosos with Lomachenko in the first quarter of next year.”
