Former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant didn't hold back when asked to give an assessment of Anthony Dirrell's career.

The two former world champions are set to meet on Saturday night on the undercard of Deontay Wilder vs. Robert Helenius and Plant claims Dirrell will not be able to look back on his career in a positive light.

"I’m sure that he’ll be disappointed at the end of his career," Plant told The DAZN Boxing Show

"Not having one successful title defence, I’m sure that’s going to bug him for a long time. It would bug me."

This will be Plant's first fight since losing Canelo Alvarez last year, and while he may have had the chance to pick an easier opponent for his in-ring return, the 30-year-old stated that he is only interested in fighting the best at 168lbs.

"When I get back to the top, not if, even coming off the lay off that I did, coming back with the success that I had against Canelo, I could have put myself in a position where I picked some sparring sessions with an opponent, just get my feet wet again and get back in the mix," Plant said.

"But that’s not what I wanted to do; I knew I couldn’t get the biggest fight possible coming off the back of a loss because sometimes losers can’t be choosers.

"I wanted the biggest fight that could possibly be made and this was the fight we were able to get, a two-time world champion.

"Moving forward I want this biggest fight I could possibly get. If I have to keep picking off every top super middleweight until I get a rematch with Canelo that’s not only what I want, but it’s what I’m going to do."
