Callum Smith still has plenty of options.

Callum Smith endured the toughest night of his illustrious career earlier this month when he was stopped by Artur Beterbiev in Canada.

Competing for world title glory at 175lbs, Smith found Beterbiev too difficult an obstacle to overcome as his challenge was ended in the fight’s seventh round.

Despite the setback, Smith still has numerous options at light-heavyweight but he’s taking his time to confirm his next move.

One possible option if he decides to continue his career is a domestic showdown with Anthony Yarde.

The Londoner has also been defeated by Beterbiev but as a fighter with serious world title credentials and a decent profile a win over him for the Liverpool man could potentially reignite his career.

“That’s a good fight,” said Smith when speaking to Boxing News regarding a battle with Yarde. "Look, definitely, that’s a fight, outside the world champions, is probably one of the better fights to make in the division. So, look, it depends on the timing.

“It’s definitely a fight that motivates you. So, there’s a lotta good, say domestic fights, but they’re not really domestic level. So, it’s definitely a fight that is an option regardless of what decision I make on the future. I don’t know what his plans are. I don’t know whether he’s fighting anytime soon.”
