Canelo Alvarez has every belt at 168lbs.

David Benavidez ended the unbeaten run of Demetrius Andrade last month as he further enhanced his credentials at 168lbs.

The Arizona fighter is making quite a name for himself, but he knows he can’t be the best in his division until he’s defeated Canelo Alvarez and becomes the undisputed ruler in his weight class.

A fight between Canelo and Benavidez has long been speculated and with both fighters competing under the PBC promotional banner, now could be the ideal time to get it on.

Canelo, arguably the sport's most popular fighter, will always have a wealth of options in front of him and Benavidez has hit out at his rival and has accused him of keeping the world titles ‘hostage.’

“Why does he have all the belts? He should just do celebrity boxing matches,” said Benavidez when speaking to ProBox TV

“Why is he still holding the belts hostage and not giving the number one contender the opportunities they deserve? You owe it to the people. Let’s give the people what they want to see.”
