It was a homecoming fit for a king in his native Guadalajara, Mexico, as Canelo Alvarez donned a crown toward the ring before delivering a wide unanimous decision victory over John Ryder on Saturday night.
And leading up to the fight, there was plenty of clamor whether the undisputed super middleweight world champion or WBA "Regular" world lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis is the reigning face of boxing.
Well, Alvarez, 32, didn't hesitate to assert his position on that debate after his latest victory.
When DAZN's Chris Mannix asked him about people wondering if he's still on top of boxing, Alvarez offered: "I'm here, with the four belts."
Though Alvarez didn't produce a stoppage against Ryder, he dominated his way toward his 59th professional career victory, looking to add another layer to his legend by reasserting his plan to avenge his May 2022 loss to WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in a desired rematch next.
