Canelo Alvarez gives brutal verdict on Terence Crawford's win over Israil Madrimov

Canelo Alvarez gives brutal verdict on Terence Crawford's win over Israil MadrimovEsther Lin/Premier Boxing Champions
The Mexican has been linked with a fight against the newly crowned light middleweight champion.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez believes Israil Madrimov should have had his hand raised in victory this past weekend.

The Uzbekistan fighter failed to defend his WBA light middleweight title against Terence Crawford in Los Angeles with the American triumphing by unanimous decision in what was a close encounter.

Immediately after Crawford was declared the winner, there were calls for Crawford to finally face the unified super middleweight champion with Turki Alalshikh even sending an offer to the Mexican.

However, with Alalshikh since announcing that this fight is no longer on his radar, Alvarez's full attention turns towards his upcoming clash with Edgar Berlanga on September 14 live on DAZN.

This did not stop the Mexican from giving his thoughts on Crawford's recent win when speaking to Dan Canobbio during a press conference on Monday.

“For me, I think that he [Crawford] lost the fight or [it was a] draw, or it could be the other side. He knows why weight-classes are there [now]," Alvarez said.

“Yeah, [he has been mentioning my name a lot lately] because he wanted to sell the [Madrimov] fight. If they don’t talk about me, they don’t sell anything.

“If the money is right. I don’t like fighters who move around the weight-classes.”
