Canelo Alvarez believes that Tyson Fury would defeat Oleksandr Usyk should they face off in an undisputed heavyweight clash.

The Ukrainian defeated Anthony Joshua to retain his IBF, WBA and WBO belts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 20.

Soon after the win he made it clear that he wanted to fight Fury for his WBC belt, with no other options appealing.

Fury, who claimed to be retired, appears content to make at least one more return to the ring for a huge payday.

A fight in early 2023 could be a possibility, but no date has been agreed.

Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo told Fight Hype that Fury had the ability and size advantage to make him favourite.

Discussing his rematch performance, he said: “He looked good, he looked good.

“It’s just – Usyk is a great fighter. I think that’s the difference.”

But when pushed on his chances of beating Fury, he said: “I don’t think so.

“It’s gonna be a good fight, but I think Fury is gonna win because he has everything.

“He has boxing skills and he has the weight, so it’s gonna be different.”
