During Miguel Cotto’s long and illustrious career, the Puerto Rican superstar faced a collection of legendary fighters but who was the best?
Winning world titles in four division from 140lbs all the way to middleweight, Cotto stepped in the ring with a number of modern greats including Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao.
Despite facing numerous setbacks in his run at the top level of the sport, Cotto would reinvent himself and return to obtain more success.
After walking away from boxing in 2017, Cotto has resisted the urge to jump back in the ring, and in retirement, he’s named Mayweather the best overall boxer he ever opposed.
“I think Floyd. He was smarter than everyone else,” said Cotto when speaking to The Ring.
“He was a really good boxer. He did everything about as well as anybody.”
