Saul "Canelo" Alvarez looks to continue his dominance in the super middleweight division on Cinco de Mayo Weekend.
He will be defending all four of his super middleweight championships against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia on May 4 live on DAZN PPV, but Alvarez is a fighter who is always looking for opportunities to push himself within the sport of boxing.
One of those which Alvarez has pursued is fighting at light heavyweight, where he has previously won a world title in 2019.
Alvarez then attempted to become a two-time champion at 175lbs when he faced Dmitry Bivol two years ago, but the Mexican was comprehensively beaten on the judges' scorecards.
Speaking to One on One Boxing, Alvarez revealed that the only time he would return to the light heavyweight division would be to face Bivol in a rematch if an agreement between the two can be reached.
“Well, the only way that I would go up to 175lbs would be to have a rematch with Bivol. That would be the only way," Alvarez said.
"I’m not obsessed with getting it [the rematch] but if it is there and we can come to an agreement in the negotiations, I’d love to have that rematch.”
