Canelo Alvarez on heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk: 'I like it'DAZN
Canelo Alvarez has often sought the biggest challenges.

Canelo Alvarez has expressed an interest in fighting Oleksandr Usyk at heavyweight. The undisputed ruler at 168lbs moves up to light-heavyweight this weekend to face Dmitry Bivol, live on DAZN (except Mexico and Latin America), for the WBA title.

Despite having his hands full with the imminent threat waiting for him on Saturday night, Canelo is already dreaming of future achievements.

A move to heavyweight has long been speculated for Canelo but it appears more likely now that the Mexican icon has admitted his desire to one day face Usyk.

The Ukranian wizard currently has his hands full with a second meeting against Anthony Joshua, a bout likely for this summer, and with Canelo being boxing’s biggest draw, Usyk would surely be tempted by the challenge.

"I like it," said Canelo when speaking to ESPN ahead of his battle with Bivol.

“Why not? I'll fight everyone. I don't f---ing care.”

Hearn, Canelo’s promoter, agrees that his man would accept the fight. "I believe ‘AJ’ will win the fight, but if he doesn't, Canelo would a million percent fight at 201 pounds."

If Canelo made the eventual jump to heavyweight after winning his first world title at 154lbs, he would better the steps made by Roy Jones Jr who won his maiden world belt at middleweight.
