Andre Rozier was unable to assist Demtrius Andrade in his fight with David Benavidez as his fighter was rescured from the contrst at the end of round six.
The highly respected trainer was hoping to score one of his biggest victories against the Arizona man, but Benavidez was just too good as he handed Andrade his first loss as a professional.
For Benavidez, his attention will now switch to a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez as he looks to become the world’s best super-middleweight.
Rozier has been up against Canelo before when he trained Danny Jacobs, and he still believes the Mexican will have the edge if he secures a contest with Benavidez in 2024.
“If they fight in May 2024, I have to stick with the guy that is laying the plan down. I have to stick with Canelo,” said Rozier when speaking to FightHype.
“Benavidez is a fantastic fighter. His thing is pressure to break you. Canelo has so many overall weapons, that I would have to side with him in that fight. His [Canelo] defence is really, really good. It would be better than good for that fight.”
