The WBC world super lightweight champion gave his thoughts on the fight.

David Benavidez continued to assert his dominance over the super middleweight division with an impressive stoppage win over two-weight world champion Demetrius Andrade on Saturday night.

Now fans are calling for a fight to be made between Benavidez and undisputed champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to determine who is the best fighter at 168lbs.

The prospect of these two fighters finally going head-to-head already has notable names within the sport making their predictions including WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis who believes experience against top level opponents could prove the difference.

"Right now, I’ll still give it to Canelo just because you can never go away from Canelo. He’s a Hall of Famer," Prograis told FightHype.com

"In my opinion, Canelo is the best Mexican fighter in history. I know we have Julio Cesar Chavez, but if you look at Canelo’s resume, it’s crazy. He’s done so much in the sport already, and he is just so good.

“So for me, I would still go with Canelo right now, but as time goes on, and if Benavidez keeps getting experience under his belt, I might have to lean more toward Benavidez, but right now, I lean more towards Canelo because he did have the better competition.”

While a fight against Alvarez is the dream opponent for Benavidez when it comes to his next fight, the American has not ruled out a potential move to light heavyweight if a deal cannot be made to face the Mexican star.
