The former Canelo Alvarez opponent gave his thoughts on the contest.

Jaime Munguia finally gets his chance to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez with the two set to meet for the undisputed super middleweight title on May 4 in Las Vegas.

However, while Munguia has the knockout power to trouble any top fighter, former Alvarez opponent Austin Trout expects it to be an easy night for the defending champion.

“He [Canelo] should probably knock Munguia out,” Trout told Boxing Scene

“It’s going to be an exciting fight whilst it lasts but I think Canelo should probably blast Munguia. But nonetheless, that's not the fight we want to see. We're trying to see Benavidez and Canelo. Nobody asked for Munguia vs. Canelo.”

Trout and Canelo met in 2013 for the former's WBA light middleweight title with the Mexican emerging victorious, and now Trout is questioning whether Alvarez still has the hunger to compete with the best in and around his weight class.

“The only thing that is missing is that hunger, he was hungry to be the best Mexican fighter ever, he was hungry to be the face of boxing – he did that," Trout continued.

"I'm not sure what he's hungry for now. Maybe continue his legacy and make money? I don't know.

"That's the only difference, he works hard, he still trains hard, I think he stays in shape. So, the ability and the time he puts in is not lacking. I just think the hunger is missing.”
