Leonard Ellerbe is looking forward to Canelo Alvarez's next fight against Jaime Munguia, and he’s backing the current world champion to win.
The Mexican pair will meet on May 4 in a huge encounter that will see Canelo look to maintain his position at the top of the 168lbs division.
Ellerbe has long been an admirer of Canelo and he knows the fighter well after helping set up his fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2013.
Since then, Canelo has pushed on to become the face of boxing in America and Ellerbe thinks he will have too much for Munguia later this year.
“There’s no way he’s losing to Munguia, no way. I’m glad this fight got made. It’s a terrific fight,” said Ellerbe when speaking to FightHype.
“It’s big for the Mexican culture, and Canelo, in my opinion, the greatest Mexican fighter ever. You have a young fighter in Munguia who is coming to fight. He’s a good fighter. He’s definitely developed under Freddie Roach, but it should be great.”
