Talk continues to escalate regarding a bout that would see Terence Crawford take a big leap to challenge Canelo Alvarez.
Since defeating Errol Spence in July, Crawford sits atop boxing’s pound for pound list, but the Nebraska man is still aiming high as he remains linked to a contest with the Mexican icon.
Later this month, Canelo defends his super-middleweight world titles Jermell Charlo, another fighter Crawford is eager to face, and if successful, it’ll be worth monitoring his next move.
Bob Arum, the former promoter of Crawford, is a huge admirer of his ex-fighter, but he believes that Canelo would be a step too far for the current welterweight ruler.
“You’d have to favour Canelo in the fight, because he’s the bigger and stronger guy,” said Arum when speaking to Pro Boxing Fans.
“We promoted so many Crawford fights, and he is a tremendous, tremendous talent. I wouldn’t count Crawford out in any fight, though obviously Canelo would be a big favourite in that fight.”
