Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Eddie Hearn explains why mega-fight will not be in RiyadhDAZN

The next 12 months are set to be a huge one for the sport of boxing, with the stand out event schduled to date being the mammoth ' The Last Crescendo' card from Riyadh Season

Taking place on February 22 live on DAZN PPV , the undisputed light heavyweight title rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry will headline a card which includes three world title fights

One fight outside of that card that appears to be gathering pace is between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford . That is after the pair met with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh over the past couple of days in London.

If Alvarez and Crawford were to have a bout materialise, it would be one which could capture the fight fan's imagination. But then comes the matter of the location.

Riyadh has become the new fight capital of the world with the majority of boxing's biggest fights now taking place in Saudi Arabia.

However, Matchroom's Eddie Hearn , who has worked with Alvarez in the past, believes that a Canelo-Crawford matchup only works in one country.

"Canelo versus Crawford only works for me in America," Hearn told DAZN News

"It’s just wherever he’s [Alalshikh] going to be involved in that process. Like Benn-Eubank will be in England, but he will be involved to get it made.

"I’m not sure Canelo-Crawford happens in Saudi if I’m honest, or at all, but I don’t see a lot of options for Canelo at the moment."

Crawford fought just once in 2024 when he beat Israil Madrimov to become a four-weight world champion, while Alvarez added two wins to his record after beating Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga.
