Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Oscar De La Hoya makes his prediction if the fight were to happenDAZN

In exactly one month, Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight world championship against Jermell Charlo, who is moving up two divisions to challenge the boxing superstar.

Despite that fight looming, there has been an uptick of Canelo having to field questions about a possible mega bout against Terence Crawford, with Alvarez even telling reporter Manouk Akopyan, "why not? It's possible" and "if it makes sense, I'm down to do it."

Well, when broached with the topic of the super fight, Oscar De La Hoya didn't need long to ponder over a winner between Alvarez and Crawford.

"First of all, I give Crawford all the credit in the world for even  thinking  about possibly fighting Canelo, but if that fight ever takes place, I have Crawford 1000 percent," De La Hoya told FightHype.com . "Crawford also is a big guy who can handle a Canelo because they're at the same size. Crawford is a guy who punches hard but he doesn't rely on his power.

"He relies on his footwork, he relies on his speed, changeups, he relies on his combinations, he relies on his mind," he continued. "And I believe that Crawford is a way better boxer than Canelo."

Crawford and Alvarez are each listed at 5-foot-8 in height.

However, if Alvarez successfully defends his undisputed crown against Charlo on September 30 and accepts Crawford's challenge, "Bud," the undisputed welterweight king, would have to move up from 147 pounds and leap three divisions to fight Canelo at 168 pounds.
