Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford - Teddy Atlas makes prediction for potential blockbuster

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford - Teddy Atlas makes prediction for potential blockbusterDAZN

Teddy Atlas is the latest influential fight figure to have his say on the potential mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Since defeating Errol Spence in the summer of 2023, Crawford has made it clear that the fight he wants most is a showdown against the Mexican icon.

Last August, Crawford moved to super-welterweight to take a portion of the world title from Israil Madrimov but is he ready to jump another two weight classes to take on Canelo.

The super-middleweight ruler is unbeaten since losing to Dmitry Bivol in 2022 and he spent 2024 enhancing his credentials at 168lbs with wins over Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga.

Facing Crawford is likely to present Canelo with a significant test despite his huge advantage in size, and the Nebraska man certainly has his backers in the boxing industry.

Atlas, one of boxing’s shrewdest minds and world class trainer, has given his backing to Crawford in what could be the biggest fight of the year.

“I think you know where I’m leaning. I’ll make it even clearer when I’m leaning so there isn’t a lot of suspense. I ain’t going against Crawford,” said Atlas when speaking on The Fight podcast

“I do think he’s that special guy. I think Canelo’s special too, but Crawford even more so. He hasn’t learned how to lose yet. I think he does have those special ingredients that go beyond the physical. So, that’s it. Okay? You don’t like it? Too bad.”
