Teofimo Lopez is fully aware of the talent possessed by Canelo Alvarez after recently joining his training stable. So, he is in a perfect position to have his say on a potential fight between the Mexican star and Terence Crawford.
For long periods of Lopez’s career, the New Yorker has sought his own fight with Crawford, but it appears his gym mate may beat him to it.
Since defeating Errol Spence in the summer of 2023, Crawford has made it clear that the only fight that really appeals to him is a showdown with Canelo.
Last August, the Nebraska man made the leap to super-welterweight as he became world champion in a fourth weight class courtesy of a points win over Israil Madrimov.
Despite several options being available for Crawford at 154lbs, going up another two weight classes to super-middleweight to challenge Canelo is his desired option.

Canelo has competed as high as light-heavyweight, a division where he was world champion, so Crawford could be biting off more than he can chew against his fellow pound-for-pound rival.
Lopez, who is also linked to numerous high-profile showdowns, has given his verdict on a potential clash between Canelo and Crawford, and it’s the former who gets his backing.
“It’s a big money fight. Overall, we’ll all be winning seeing those two fight. I think it will be great,” said Lopez when speaking to ES News.
“I think Crawford is gonna give Canelo a hard time in the beginning, but once Canelo gets a little bit comfortable in that ring, adapting to Crawford’s style, we see Canelo finishing him off in the late rounds.”
