LAS VEGAS — Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol got one final look at one another when they weighed in on Friday to make their WBA (super) light heavyweight title fight official.
Alvarez and Bivol had no problem making the 175-pound weight limit from the Toshiba Plaza, right in front of T-Mobile Arena, where the fight will occur.
The eight-time defending champion weighed in first to resounding boos, coming in at 174.6 pounds.
The reigning undisputed super-middleweight champion was next up to a thunderous ovation from a screaming Mexican crowd and came in a tad lighter at 174.4.
Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) looks to become a two-time 175-pound champion. His last four bouts were at super-middleweight, where he became the undisputed champion after disposing of Caleb Plant in November. The 31-year-old appreciates the support and looks forward to putting on a show and becoming a two-time light heavyweight champion.
"They make me feel so happy," Alvarez told DAZN's Todd Grisham. "Thank you so much. Viva Mexico. I'm really happy and grateful for all my fans for the support."
Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs) looks to make the ninth consecutive defense of his belt. The 31-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision over Umar Salamov in December to earn a crack with Alvarez.
"Thank you to everyone who supports me and believe in me," Bivol told Grisham to boos. "I try to make a good fight for you."
DAZN News will have live coverage of the Canelo vs. Bivol weigh-in, starting at 4 p.m. ET.
