Otto Wallin begins his December 23 bout against Anthony Joshua a significant underdog, but one British fighter thinks the Swede has a fair chance of causing an upset.
Carl Froch, one of the most outspoken boxing figures on Joshua, believes Wallin has what it takes to make things interesting next month.
Wallin is perhaps best known for his gutsy effort against Tyson Fury in 2019 when he cut the WBC champion before losing on points.
Since then, Wallin has picked up a number of wins with the most impressive occurring earlier this year when he outpointed former cruiserweight ruler, Murat Gassiev.
“I do think Otto Wallin has got a chance against Joshua,” said Froch when speaking on Froch on Fighting.
“AJ is quite negative and is a bit nervous. If Otto Wallin believes in himself and he sticks it on Anthony Joshua, it could be game over for AJ. If he doesn’t rise to the occasion and meet Wallin with aggression, then this could go wrong.
“I think Wallin does have a chance, I make AJ a 65/35 favourite, but Wallin has definitely got a chance, so don’t rule anything out, this could be a massive upset.”
