Carl Froch has not been complimentary of Jake Paul in recent times but he’s backing the novice boxer to beat Nate Diaz later this year.
In the build-up to Paul’s fight with Tommy Fury, Froch engaged with the popular YouTuber and made a video insisting that he would be too good for Paul despite being retired for nearly nine years.
After the Fury fight, many expected Paul to go into an immediate rematch with his great rival but he’s headed in a different direction and will instead face the former UFC star.
Diaz is widely known for his achievements in MMA including a win over Conor McGregor in 2016, but this will be his first boxing match and Froch is expecting Paul to win.
“I think it’s a wise choice for Paul to fight Nate Diaz, because it should be a comfortable enough win,” said Froch when speaking on Froch is Fighting.
“I think Nate Diaz is half his height as well, he’s quite small. Conor McGregor, what’s he? He’s like half a leprechaun int he? Or is he a full leprechaun? But he’s a small geezer. Nate Diaz is also 38 years old as well, so it is a wise move.”
